You may have already seen from Matthew Butt’s recent updates that Matt has now officially joined Flood & Civil as a partner and director. This was always part of the plan when Matt joined the business in April 2025, but that doesn’t make the moment any less exciting.

Matt’s appointment marks an important milestone for Flood & Civil. As we continue to grow, strengthening our leadership team helps ensure we maintain the technical excellence, resilience, and collaborative approach that underpin everything we do. It also represents a major step in the continued development of the business as we support both our valued existing clients and new partnerships.

For me personally, it’s a particularly meaningful moment. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Matt at two previous companies, and over the years our professional relationship has grown into a close friendship.

Having seen his work first-hand, I know the depth of his technical capability, drive, and intuition. These qualities have already made a significant impact since he joined the business, and they will play a huge role as Flood & Civil continues to evolve. Matt’s leadership will further strengthen our ability to deliver high-quality flood risk, drainage, and civil engineering solutions across the wide range of projects we support.

Reflecting on the milestone, Matt shared:

I’m really pleased to be becoming a director at Flood & Civil. For me, the most important part is partnering with someone I trust and work well with. Oliver and I share the same vision for the type of work we want to deliver and the kind of culture we want to build within the business. We both take pride in delivering projects to a high standard, achieving good outcomes for our clients, and building a company we’re proud of. It’s important to us that Flood & Civil is an enjoyable and rewarding place to work, where the projects we take on are interesting and meaningful.

Matt has already been instrumental in shaping our recent work and helping drive the next phase of the company’s development. His appointment formalises a partnership that will help guide Flood & Civil into its next chapter. We’re incredibly excited about what lies ahead.
