Drainage Diversions, Utility Disconnections & Diversions

sewer utility diversion design

Flood & Civil can assist with the diversion or disconnection of drainage and utilities, as required to clear the site for proposed development.

Our experts consult with the water authorities and utility providers to obtain the relevant costs and identify optimal diversion routes. Where a public sewer is to be diverted we can assist with the formal process (usually a S185 agreement) through which the diversion is agreed with the water authority. We can also assist with sewer build-over agreements.

We are experienced in designing diversions from large (>1m diameter) public sewers, sometimes referred to as 'trunk' or 'strategic' sewers, all the way down so small private drainage diversions (often only a 100mm or 150mm drainage pipe).

To design a drainage diversion we will need some survey information. This usually includes a topographical survey of the land the sewer passes through, including ground levels, a CCTV camera survey of the sewer itself and a manhole survey to establish the construction, condition and invert levels of the drains flowing in and out of each manhole. We can produce a survey specification and approach suitably qualified surveyors on your behalf, to help you obtain the information we need to design your drainage diversion.
